On Wednesday, September 24th, the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness will celebrate its 5th anniversary at The Wachovia Center in Philadelphia. The event will further the NFCA’s mission in raising awareness and funding for celiac disease by featuring chefs from 35 of Philadelphia’s highly acclaimed restaurants who will demonstrate their gluten-free cooking capabilities and compete for gluten-free dish of the year in an Iron Chef-like competition.
The event also will feature music, wine, gluten-free beer, an auction, raffle, and an all around great time. All of this is thanks to the generous donation of The Wachovia Center by Ed Snider, who is a member of the NFCA Board of Directors.
Step into a world of grace, health and fun on the ice at the VIP Reception. As a VIP at Appetite for Awareness, you will be escorted to the ice level at The Wachovia Center and step onto our Ice Lounge where you will enjoy a wide array of exquisitely prepared gluten-free hors d'oeuvres and cocktails provided by our talented and gracious catering sponsors: Chestnut Hill Cheese Shop, Blommer Chocolate, Culinary Concepts, Ketel One, Legal Sea Foods, and Rosen Catering. You will be entertained by the Philadelphia Area free and synchronized skaters and performances by pairs skaters who compete at the national and international levels.
Don't miss this world class moment to underscore the mission of NFCA. It will be a night to remember!
In conjunction with the 5th anniversary celebration, NFCA intends to sustain the involvement of the 35 restaurants by working with each to develop an alternative gluten-free menu and have their kitchens certified by NFCA’s gluten-free kitchen protocol training program (GREAT), thereby establishing a Philadelphia Gluten-Free Neighborhood.
